Frequently Asked Questions

How many times can you use MoTubesTM?

Each leading edge of the MoTubesTM strip that is in contact with concrete can be used multiple times depending on how well you main it. Then, you can use the other end of the same face as the leading edge. Finally, you can turn the strip over and you will get two new leading edges from that side. So, all combined, these 4 arrangements will give you at least 50 applications!

How do you secure the end of MoTubesTM? or Do you need to wrap any ties around MoTubesTM?

The free end of MoTubes only needs to be held in place with a couple of pieces of twine or tape to prevent the strip from unwinding. This twine will not be subjected to any loads.

How much pressure can MoTubesTM resist?

MoTubesTM can resist very large internal pressure, depending on the diameter of the tube, the thickness of the strip and the number of wraps (layers). In the tests we performed, a 3-layer 12-inch diameter tube was subjected to internal pressure. The test was stopped once a pressure of 23 psi (158 kPa) was reached with no sign of failure. This was higher than the maximum expected formwork pressure of 21 psi (145 kPa) that can be expected in any concrete formwork!

What does the finished surface look like?

MoTubesTM provides a smooth uniform finished surface with no unsightly spiral marks; no manual finishing is required. Cardboard tube manufacturers offer such an option but at a high premium!

Does rain damage MoTubesTM?

MoTubesTM is not affected by moisture or rain, lowering your project cost and improving productivity.

How should we store MoTubesTM?

Once removed, MoTubesTM can be cleaned with water, rolled, and stored away for future use. It is recommended that you store the product indoors and away from freezing temperatures for longer service life.
